Anxiety Empowerment

Anxiety. Panic attacks. I struggled with these issues for ten years, whilst trying to raise four young children on my own. I often felt alone, broken, dependant on prescription (SSRI) medication. Please don’t get me wrong, I think medication is wonderful for getting you through acute bouts of anxiety and low mood whilst you put in place measures to help support yourself. This is where I struggled to find information, how could I support myself through my anxiety? How could I lessen the feelings of panic, or how do I stop a panic attack in its tracks? This was the information I craved to empower myself, but wasn’t provided at my Doctors clinic.

It wasn’t until I started studying Naturopathy and Herbal medicine, that I began to learn the tools I needed to help myself, it was a slow process, I had to work on my anxiety daily, like a muscle that needed to be strengthened, learning to manage my anxiety took time. Ive been anxiety and panic attack free for two years now and medication free for a year. Coming off my medication was a slow process of tapering medication which I was supported through, please do not stop taking your prescription medication without the help and advice of your Doctor as there are often unpleasant side effects and/or you may not yet be ready.
